Live illustrating for Mayor of London
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London and his team recently reached out to me to live illustrate their celebration event for Hackney Wick and Fish Island Creative Enterprise Zone.
What are London Creative Enterprise Zones? A CEZ is a designated area in London aimed at boosting the creative economy by providing support for creative businesses, encouraging collaboration, and fostering innovation. The initiative focuses on enhancing local infrastructure, offering affordable workspaces, and promoting skills development to strengthen the creative sector and its contribution to the economy.
I was born in Hackney, but I moved to Manchester when I was just three, so I don’t really have any memories of my time there. I do remember the photo my mum and dad had outside Hackney Town Hall on their wedding day in the 80s. Still, it felt like coming home in a funny way. Mostly because of the warm welcome I got from Sadiq’s team!
